Some of you may remember that just before Christmas, Global Image Sports was involved in sponsoring and playing in the Father Christmas Cup, a charity tournament event that brought together the Atlanta Soccer Community in an effort to raise funds for families experiencing their first Christmas without a parent.
Thanks to the fantastic efforts of the organisers and fellow sponsors - the event raised more than $50,000, breaking this barrier for the first time in its history. The great efforts of all involved will ensure that 97% of this money has gone directly to those Atlanta families. This year also marked the involvement of Atlanta United as a sponsor - who entered a team containing Carlos Bocanegra (Technical Director) and Darren Eales (President)! With the team gearing up for its inaugural MLS campaign - it was great to see a lot of them involved and adding to the community spirit on the day.
GIS helped by providing a series of signed shirts kindly donated by our own professional partners and many other top clubs across Europe and are immensely proud to have been involved in the build up to the event as well as helping to promote the legacy and longevity of this foundation. The shirts were used in a silent auction to help raise proceeds for the event.
GIS look forward to helping with the event again in 2016 - the provisional date is December 17th - and we ask all our fraternity of soccer clubs in the Atlanta area to keep one eye on the organisation of the event by visiting the FX Cup website.
