Atletico Madrid are the current Europa League & UEFA Super Cup holders. Atletico Madrid is one of the biggest football clubs in the world with a rich history since it was found in 1903. The club plays at the 68,000 seater Wanda Metropolitano Stadium (that is due to host the 2019 Champions League final).

Atletico Madrid

La Liga

The club was founded in 1903, under the name of Athletic Club de Madrid. Its founders, three Basque students living in Madrid, considered the club a youth branch of Athletic Bilbao. Following the end of the Spain civil war in 1939, Athletic was merged with a Zaragoza football club founded the same year, Aviación Nacional. The new club was named Athletic Aviación de Madrid. The merger quickly proved successful, as Athletic Aviación managed to win its first La Liga in 1940 and defend the title in 1941. In 1947, the club changed its name for the final time; it was henceforth known by its current name of Club Atlético de Madrid. Atlético's home kit is red and white vertical striped shirts, with blue shorts, and blue and red socks. This combination has been used since 1911. Throughout their history the club has been known by a number of nicknames, including Los Colchoneros.

Diego Simeone's appointment as head coach in 2011 saw the club return to its former paths of glory without really big stars, but with the idea of collectivism. Under his leadership, the club won a Europa League in 2012, and followed it up with a Copa del Rey in 2013 and its tenth La Liga in 2014. After the team's victory in the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup in 2018, Simeone became the most successful manager in the club's history. The club's missing trophy is that of the Champions League. Athlético has been close to win it, being runners-up in 2013–14 and 2015–16 plus reaching the semi-finals in 2016–17.

Watford FC Watford Football Club is a professional football club based in Watford, Hertfordshire, England, that plays in the Premier League, the highest level in the English football league system. Founded in 1881 as Watford Rovers.

    Watford FC

    English Premier League

The club entered the FA Cup for the first time in 1886, and the Southern League a decade later. After finishing the 1914–15 season as Southern League champions under the management of Harry Kent, Watford joined the Football League in 1920.

England manager Graham Taylor's tenure at the club saw Watford scale new heights. Between Taylor's appointment in 1977 and departure in 1987, Watford rose from the Fourth Division to the First Division. The team finished second in the First Division in the 1982–83 season, competed in the UEFA Cup in 1983–84, and also reached the 1984 FA Cup Final.

Watford experienced a decade of decline between 1987 and 1997, before Taylor returned as full-time manager, leading the team to successive promotions from the renamed Second Division to the Premier League for one season in 1999–2000. The club experienced a further one season stint in the top division of English football during the 2006–07 season, under Aidy Boothroyd's management; eight years in the Championship followed. Watford secured promotion in 2014–15, and have remained in the Premier League since the 2015–16 season. Watford is owned by the Pozzo family, which also owns Udinese Calcio in Italy and previously Granada CF in Spain.

Sir Elton John, who owned Watford during both of Graham Taylor's successful periods as manager, served alongside Taylor as the club's joint Honorary Life President until 2008, only to later resume the role he shared alongside Graham Taylor until Taylor's death.
